A short guided tour
New players get a quick tour of the map, your hero, the badges, the leaderboard, Friends, Activity and Settings. Already playing? You can take it any time from How it works.
What's changed on TokenRPG, newest first. If you need to do anything, it says so here.
New players get a quick tour of the map, your hero, the badges, the leaderboard, Friends, Activity and Settings. Already playing? You can take it any time from How it works.
Challenge friends in teams of up to five a side from Friends → New challenge. Pick Most tokens, or Beat your normal, where each player is measured against their own average day, so a lighter player can win. Everyone on the winning side gets the spoils of war: 5% of their own tokens from that week, as XP, never taken from anyone.
Titles are no longer achievements: there are eleven of them, each earned by months of steady play, like 100 days in a row or twelve weeks with the weekends off, and none for spending more tokens. Every title worn before today has been taken off, including ours, so everyone starts level. Settings shows how close you are to each one.
Achievements now reward rhythm, rest, variety and playing with friends: new ones include Centurion, Steady Hand, Comeback, Sabbath, All-rounder, Brave, Rival, Challenger and Duellist I to III. The ones that came just from playing on, like First Blood and the boss banes, have gone; the bosses still fall in your quest log.
The Stack now climbs past The Cloud into The Edge, The Latent Sea, The Gradient Peaks, The Context Abyss and The Singularity, each with its own monsters, boss and hero title. The Architect finally waits at the top of The Cloud.
Tap the bell for your new levels, badges, duels, challenges and friend requests since you last looked, with what's new on TokenRPG at the bottom. One red dot means there's something to see.
Your achievements are now a strip of badges under your hero (tap one to see what it means), records and statistics share one card, and challenges sit near the top as a single line with a tug-of-war bar. The title you wear now shows after your name on most pages, to people who can see that achievement, and Settings is the ⚙ icon at the top.
Settings → Security lets you turn on two-factor login with an authenticator app, so your password alone can't open your account. The same section now gives you everything we hold on you as one file.
If a handle or picture is offensive, or an account looks fake, the Report link under a player's profile tells the admins. They won't be told who reported them.
The site now lives at tokenrpg.com, and old links take you there. You'll need to log in once more. Your collector keeps uploading as before: there's nothing to change on your computer.
Phone photos uploaded as PNG or WebP keep their rotation now that their hidden details are removed. If the site is ever too busy to answer, you'll see a short page asking you to try again in a moment, instead of an error.
Settings → Security has Log out everywhere, which ends every other browser at once. If someone keeps guessing at your account, a browser you've used before still logs straight in; a new one is asked a quick human check. Profile pictures now lose their hidden details, such as where a photo was taken, when you upload them (pictures already here were cleaned too).
Settings → Security now deletes your account and everything we hold on you, at once. Can't log in? The Delete my data page emails you a link that does the same. Each page says plainly what stays in backups, and for how long.
New pages at the foot of every page: Your data lists every number your computer sends, everything we store and how long we keep it; Security lists what we do to protect your account, each line backed by a check we run; plus a privacy policy and terms. You must be 16 or over to play.
Every password box has an eye button: press it to show what you typed, press again to hide it. New handles also follow a few rules (no names that look like the site's own staff); existing handles are unchanged.
New accounts now confirm their email address before they start: we email a link, and until it's pressed the hero can't upload or appear anywhere (an account nobody confirms is deleted after 7 days). Forgot your password? The login page now emails you a reset link that works once, for an hour. Sign-up and these forms include a quick check that you're human.
Change your password or your email in Settings → Security. A new email only takes over when you press the link we send to it, and your old address gets a note with an undo link that works for 7 days.
Settings → Emails lets you switch each kind on or off: challenge results, news (off unless you turn it on) and service notices, such as a collector that needs updating. Each of those emails has a one-click unsubscribe link. Emails about your account itself, like confirming an address or resetting a password, can't be switched off.
The collector no longer reads or sends the names of the folders you work in, and we have deleted every project name from TokenRPG's database; the backup copies we keep for safety expire by the end of April 2027. They said little (for many people, only their home folder), so the Projects card and chart and the Pathfinder achievement are gone. The collector now tells us one more thing, the kind of computer each machine is (Mac, Linux, Windows or Windows with WSL): you see it under Settings → Your machines, and we use it only to help when something needs fixing. Your collector updates itself; nothing to do.
The map has two views. Friends shows your friends' heroes as before. Global shows how many players each country has, and nothing else, once 3 or more count there; only players whose profile is open to everyone are counted, and anyone can see it, logged in or not. To leave your country's number, untick Count me on the world map in Settings → Privacy. The anonymous token figures and the regions are gone, and the county or state some of you picked has been deleted too.
Activity now opens on all your friends: in each chart, where you rank among them and their median. Pick friends to compare with one by one, with a search box for long friend lists. Comparisons with your country, region and everyone are gone for good.
Your hero now unlocks achievements for rhythm, variety, rest and the story, never for spending more: Marathon, Night Owl, Early Bird, Polyglot, Pathfinder, Well Rested, a bane for each zone boss and more. Wear one as a title under your name, and see your best day, week, month and longest streak in a Records card on your profile.
Your hero has a class from the models you used in the last 30 days: Archmage, Ranger, Rogue or Seer, a Wanderer when no model has more than half, and "of the Night" if you code late. It shows on your profile and on the map, to people your Models & token mix row reaches.
Each level your hero gains from today, they challenge a friend who played in the two weeks before to a duel. Glory only: no XP changes hands. Duels show in the feed and as wins and losses on profiles, to people who can open both heroes' profiles.
From 1 November, the first week of each month brings a recap of your last month on your profile and in the feed: levels, bosses, streaks, your class, achievements and duels, each shown only to people your privacy settings allow. Save it as a picture with one click.
Activity now groups its charts under How much, When, How and The game, each in its own panel. New: tokens per active day, best day, messages from Claude, about how many words Claude wrote, your streak, weekday vs weekend, model mix, machines, and bosses and loot. Each friend still shows only where their privacy settings let you see that part.
Activity now compares you with your friends only. The Country, Region and Everyone comparisons are paused while we make those figures more private; they will come back once they can't give away anyone's numbers.
The hours chart on Activity is now 24 bars like the one on your profile, with your friends' or your group's median as a dashed line and the night hours shaded, so it reads at a glance.
The menu now reads Map, Leaderboard, Friends, Activity, then your name, Settings and Log out. How it works and Updates are the small gold (?) and bell beside the logo, and the bell shows a red dot when there is news. Compare is now called Activity, and old links still work.
Leaderboards now count tokens over 7 days, 30 days, 3 months, 1 year or all time, each up to today. Country and Continent boards have a menu that names the place, starting on yours, so you can look at any place where someone is on the board.
Your profile and the leaderboard now show a small 🖥 count of the machines you've connected in the last 30 days. A new Machines row in Settings → Privacy decides who sees it; it starts at whatever your Plan badge row was set to.
A new Compare page, after Friends, sets your tokens, active days, hours of the day and projects beside your friends' (each only where their privacy settings let you see it) or against your country, region or everyone, as rounded medians with no names. A group shows once at least three established players there allow it, under Settings → Privacy → Anonymous totals.
Map is now your home page and the first link at the top: the world fills the screen, with your local time turning with the night side, and a Friends · Countries switch that starts on Countries (the feed has moved to the Friends page). A friend whose Hours of day you can't see is no longer on your map, as Settings → Privacy now says.
The activity feed moved to Friends, beside your friends: challenges run across the top, your friends are on the left and the last two weeks of their days on the right, with ⚔️ as before. On a phone they stack in that order.
Countries on the map now glow from everyone who allows it, without names and with rounded numbers, once three or more people there are counting, so a country means something even when none of your friends live there. Settings → Privacy → Anonymous totals decides whether you're counted (TokenRPG users or Everyone, once your account is two weeks old); if you'd kept your Token numbers or Hours of day from other players, it starts at Only me, so choose TokenRPG users there to join in.
Settings → Profile has a new Region box next to Country: start typing and pick yours, such as Cornwall or California; it's optional, and Settings → Privacy → Region decides who sees it, friends by default. Tap a country on the map to see its counties and states: faces sit in their own, and on Countries they light up as people code there.
Your numbers now update about every 2 minutes while you work, and also in the middle of one long reply, not only after it. Settings → Your machines shows how each computer updates.
The world map now shows countries: each one glows with its heroes' tokens and flashes when someone's numbers arrive. Tap a country to zoom in and see its heroes' faces, or scroll, pinch and drag to explore with sharper coastlines. A Faces / Countries switch on the map shows everyone's faces at once, and your choice is remembered.
Your home page now opens on a world map of your friends, with the night side shaded by the real sun. Friends glow while they burn tokens and dim when they go quiet; tap one to see their level, today's tokens, streak and more. It shows only you and your friends, and Settings → Privacy → Live activity decides who sees you on it.
The last two weeks for you and your friends in one list: levels, bosses, rare loot, crossroads, streaks, best days and challenge results. Tap ⚔️ to salute a friend's moment; they see the count, nothing else.
The day after a challenge's seventh day, the friends page shows who won and by how much, with a Rematch button. You both get one email with the result.
The small script that sends your numbers is now open for anyone to read, so you can see exactly what runs on your computer. The copy you download from this site is the same file, byte for byte.
Every profile shows when its numbers last arrived, in your own time zone.
Featured project cards, with their links, shout-outs and posted updates, are gone from profiles and Settings. Your Projects list still shows where your tokens went.
Choose who can open your profile, and who sees each part of it: Only me, Friends, TokenRPG users or Everyone. Parts can be narrower than the profile, never wider.
Models, token mix and hours of day on a profile now switch between the last 7 days, 30 days, 12 months and all time. Hours of day show the average per day, and model names show in full, such as Opus 4.1.
Every change you'd notice is listed here, newest first. A dot beside Updates in the menu means something is new since your last visit.
A new page explains when your hero updates, what leaves your computer, how tokens become XP and what can't be counted. Your own profile now says when it last updated.
Your hero now updates about every 10 minutes while you work, not only when a session starts or ends. Settings → Your machines shows how each computer updates.
When you're logged in, there's a feedback box at the foot of every page. Pick Question, Bug or Idea; replies come to your account email.
If each of your Claude accounts has its own folder, they can all count towards your hero, each listed as its own machine. A folder only counts if you say yes to it.
Settings → Invite a friend sends them a link to join. When they sign up through it and confirm their email, you become friends.
Grouping folders into projects by hand has gone, as it was too much upkeep. A folder inside another now counts towards the outer one (website/app counts as website), and featured projects kept their updates.
The login form now takes your hero handle as well as your email.
The Unfeature button saved a featured project instead of removing it. Pages could also keep running the old version of the site after an update until you refreshed. Both are fixed.
Show up to three of your projects under your hero card, with a link, a short shout-out, live stats and updates you post. (Removed on 16 Oct.)
Your Claude plan, such as Pro or Max 5x, shows beside your hero's title and on the leaderboard. Hover over it to see when you subscribed. Since 16 Oct, Settings → Privacy chooses who sees it.
Run the three steps on each computer you use and they add up on one hero. Settings → Your machines lists each one with its share and last upload, and lets you rename it.
The activity grid on your profile now has a circle for each active day over the last 6 months, sized by tokens. Gold means you met your daily quest.
Parties and their weekly raid boss have gone, to keep the game simple. Friends, challenges and leaderboards are unchanged.
TokenRPG is live. Your Claude Code tokens move your hero up the Stack, with daily fights, loot, friends, week-long challenges and leaderboards.
